une) vous n'êtes pas autorisé à payer des cotisations retraite là où vous vivez actuellement, et...
b) 24 mois se sont écoulés depuis que vos dernières cotisations retraite ont été versées
c) vous résidez en dehors de l' UE/EEE/CH/UK

What Happens if You Want to Work in Europe Again?
Worried that applying for a pension refund could affect your future work plans? No need.
Submitting a refund application does not stop you from moving back to Europe or working in Germany again in the future. Even if you return before your pension refund is processed, your application remains active and valid as long as you met the eligibility criteria on the date of claiming.
You can freely work, travel, and live in the EU again after applying.
How Much Money Are We Talking About?
As a benchmark, the average pension refund amount for former Chilean workers is around €14,800. But the amount refunded varies widely depending on your income, the years you contributed, and your personal circumstances.
Here's what’s taken into consideration:

Employee contributions: 100% refundable — this is the money deducted directly from your gross salary.

Voluntary pension contributions: If you paid in on your own, 50% of that can be refunded.

Special cases: If you had a divorce settlement involving pensions, adjustments might apply.
Also, note that 9.3% pension contributions are only deducted up to a salary cap (Beitragsbemessungsgrenze). In 2025, that cap is at €8,050 per month in Germany.
Earnings above this amount are not subject to mandatory pension deductions and don't influence your pension refund calculation.
